Located at a distance of 35 km from Dehradun, Mussoorie is a wonderful hill station in Uttrakhand. Situated at the foothills of Himalayas at a height of 2005 meters above the sea level, Musoorie is also known as ‘Queen of Hills’. The name of Mussoorie is derived from the plants or shrub Mansoor which is available here in large quantities.

The varied flora and fauna, lush green hills and majestic view of shivalik ranges attract thousands of domestic and international tourists to Mussoorie every year. It has also become a hub of education and business activities. Mussoorie is also popular for Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration where officers for Indian police service and Indian Administrative Services are trained.

April to June -Summer season is the favorable months to visit Mussoorie. Light woolens are advisable during this season as temperature rises to a maximum of 30 degrees and minimum is 10 degree Celsius.
October to mid-February - Winter months are very cold and spine-chilling. Mercury level sometimes drops to 1 degree Celsius. Occasional snowfall might lead to road-blocks during this season.

Mussoorie experience heavy rainfall during Monsoon season from July to September. It makes roads unsuitable for driving. Best season to visit this place is from March to June and September to November. These are the perfect time to have rock climbing, trekking and other adventurous sports activities.

Reaching Mussoorie By Air: The nearest airport in Mussoorie is located at the capital city of Dehradun-Jolly Grant. It is just 24 km away from Dehradun and well connected with Delhi airport. Indian airlines and Air Deccan operates regular flights from Delhi to Dehradun. Buses, taxius and private cars are readily available from the airport to reach Mussoorie.

Reaching Mussoorie By Road: Mussoorie has wionderful connectivity via road with all the major cities. Luxury Volvo and other buses are readily available from Delhi ISBT-Kashmiri Gate. Bus route is very amazing and comfortable that runs through lush green mountains, greenery and many beautiful places on the way.

Reaching Mussoorie By Train: There is no railway station in Mussoorie. But to arrive Mussoorie, Dehrabun railway station is the best option. The station is well connected with the major cities of India- Amritsar, Delhi, Bombay, Lucknow and Varanasi. Shatabdi Express is the perfect option if you are travelling from Delhi to Dehradun. Mussoorie is just 34 km away from Dehradun and private cars, taxies, buses etc. are readily available from railway station to reach.
